Construction of flats alongside Aerodrome Road, Colindale
Aerodrome Road refers to the famous Hendon Aerodrome which was best-known for its flying displays between the Wars - see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hendon_Aerodrome
Much of the south side of Aerodrome Road is taken up by the Metropolitan Police Training Establishment (known as the Peel Centre), and there are also some rather run down former industrial sites. However, the north side had a great deal of new building of flats going on at the time this photograph was taken.

Bridges on Aerodrome Road, Hendon
New bridges carrying a railway line across Aerodrome Road. The railway line has been here since the 19th Century, but the bridges across the road were much narrower and had lower clearance. This meant that the road was unsuitable for buses and other large vehicles. Replacing the bridges has removed this restriction. Bus stops are now installed.
Replacing the bridges wasn't cheap - the project was expected to cost £12million but by the time it had been completed, it had cost nearly twice as much.

Railway bridge in Hendon
A railway bridge carrying the Midland Main Line and Thameslink trains over Aerodrome Road in Hendon, North West London. The bridge is newly-built, but the railway line is not new, being the 'London Extension' of the Midland Railway from Bedford to London, opened in 1868. The bridge replaced an older bridge which had much lower and narrower clearance for road vehicles. Replacing the bridge has removed these restrictions.

Aerodrome Road, Colindale
Aerodrome Road in Colindale. The road passes a large new housing development where several thousand new homes are being built. The railway bridges in the distance have recently replaced narrower, lower bridges which restricted traffic and prevented large vehicles such as buses from using this road.

Beaufort Park, Colindale
Beaufort Park is a development of several thousand new homes in Colindale, North West London. It is built on the site of an R.A.F. Aerodrome. The road in the foreground is named Aerodrome Road.
