New bridges carrying a railway line across Aerodrome Road. The railway line has been here since the 19th Century, but the bridges across the road were much narrower and had lower clearance. This meant that the road was unsuitable for buses and other large vehicles. Replacing the bridges has removed this restriction. Bus stops are now installed. Replacing the bridges wasn't cheap - the project was expected to cost £12million but by the time it had been completed, it had cost nearly twice as much.
