Throop: sold house in Careys Road
We are looking along Careys Road, which forms byway open to all traffic (or B.O.A.T.) number K25. The property on the right is a semi-detached property, one of a handful of dwellings along the road - some named, some numbered seemingly randomly in the 50s. See Image for the next view along the road ahead, and Image for the next view behind us.

Throop: allotments in Careys Road
We are looking along Careys Road, which forms byway open to all traffic (or B.O.A.T.) number K25. The chain-link fence is not conducive to good photography but we can nevertheless just see a shirtless man tending to his plants in this small allotment area. See Image for the next view on the road ahead, and Image for a view behind us.

Throop: looking west along Careys Road
We are looking along Careys Road, which forms byway open to all traffic (or B.O.A.T.) number K25, from near its eastern end. It is a gravel road with a scattering of houses on it. See Image for the next view along the road ahead, and Image for a view behind us (including links to further photos on Mill Road).

Throop: scattered houses in Careys Road
We are just to the north of the vast modern developments of Throop and Muscliff, and from that direction are suddenly in a much more rural setting. This gravel road does a quick, gentle left-right double bend before reaching its few properties. Careys Road is a byway open to all traffic (or B.O.A.T.), number K25, between Broadway Lane (behind us) and Mill Road. See: Image for the next view on the path ahead; Image for a view along the road behind us; and Image for a view along footpath K24, which we see heading right (foreground). See Image for the sign for the B.O.A.T., which is positioned a fair way south of the end of the road.

Throop: Cassel, Careys Road
Cassel is the name of the bungalow on the right but is almost too generously named on the 1:25,000 map to refer only to that. I am not sure if the garden to the immediate right belongs to it - there is a wall between them but it doesn't obviously belong to another house. We are looking along Careys Road, which is a byway open to all traffic (or B.O.A.T.), number K25. It has a few properties dotted along it - some named, some numbered seemingly randomly in the mid 50s. See Image for the next view on the road ahead, and Image for a view behind us.

Muscliff: Barrowgate Road meets Careys Road
This historical public footpath in Muscliff arrives on the more major Careys Road, a byway open to all traffic. It is seen off to the right from Careys Road here: Image and seen heading towards us across the modern gate here Image Behind us, it continues between the back gardens of houses on a large modern estate, and yet has been allowed to retain its rural feel. See Image for the next view along the path behind us, with links to further photos along the route.

Throop: Barrowgate Road from Careys Road
This is a public footpath, number K24, which was a historical lane and which has been left as a rural-feeling path despite running right through the modern housing estate ahead. See Image for the view towards us, and Image for the next view along the path and further links to photos on the route. We view it from Careys Road, itself a public right of way as it is a byway open to all traffic. Barrowgate Road comes out to the immediate right, here: Image

Throop: newish housing in Taylor Drive
Throop is one of the very last villagey enclaves of Bournemouth. This housing development is now about 10 years old and has been fairly sympathetically done.

Throop: Barrowgate Road heads south
A view along this historic path, from near its northern end, as it approaches the modern housing estate which straddles it. The public footpath, number K24, has been left with a reasonably rural feel despite now heading straight through the estate. See Image for the northern end of the path, behind us, and Image for the next view ahead, with links to further photos along the route.

Muscliff: bramble overarching footpath K24
This public footpath is a historical route, known as Barrowgate Road, which long pre-dates the 1980s Muscliff housing estate. Despite now running between the back gardens of houses on the estate, it retains its rural feel. See Image for the next photo on the path behind us, its northern end outside the housing estate, and Image for the next view on the path ahead - with links to further photos all along the route.
