Job's Corner
The name of the road junction on Job's Lane with what was Stairbridge lane to the left and Pookbourne Lane to the right. The lane itself was an old rat run for traffic seeking to join the A23 from Burgess Hill until the 1997 construction of the A2300 returning the road to the quiet country lane it once was.

Job's Corner
Until 1997 Job's Lane ran from east to west with minor roads Stairbridge Lane leaving to the left and Pookbourne Lane to the right. The building of the new A2300 has meant that Stairbridge Lane now extends down to that road with Job's Lane running parallel and made much quieter having once been a busy rat run from the A23 to Burgess Hill. Job's Cottages are in the distance to the right.

A2300, Burgess Hill Link Road
Opened in 1997 to provide easier access for the expanding town of Burgess Hill with the A23. Previously, travellers either used the A272 and B2036 via Ansty or those with a little more local knowledge used the Job's Lane turning at Hickstead and a series of country lanes via Goddard's Green into the western edge of town. The former was problematic as it also carried all of Haywards Heath's traffic whilst the latter turned narrow country lanes into rat runs. Taken from the crossroads with two minor routes, Stairbridge Lane and Pookbourne Lane, the old style finger post has been moved from Job's Corner.

Job's Corner
Viewed from the north. Originally Stairbridge Lane ended at the junction with Job's Lane which runs east-west, however, it was extended southwards when the A2300 Burgess Hill link road was opened in 1997, taking over a small section of Pookbourne Lane in the process. The former was an old rat run of country lanes used by residents of Burgess Hill who wished to get onto the A23. The former finger post was also moved from this crossroads to the new one. The lanes are of some antiquity as Stairbridge Lane and then Pookbourne Lane form the parish boundary between Twineham and Hurstpierpoint, whilst Job's Lane to the left marks the boundary between Hurstpierpoint and Bolney.
