Viewed from the north. Originally Stairbridge Lane ended at the junction with Job's Lane which runs east-west, however, it was extended southwards when the A2300 Burgess Hill link road was opened in 1997, taking over a small section of Pookbourne Lane in the process. The former was an old rat run of country lanes used by residents of Burgess Hill who wished to get onto the A23. The former finger post was also moved from this crossroads to the new one. The lanes are of some antiquity as Stairbridge Lane and then Pookbourne Lane form the parish boundary between Twineham and Hurstpierpoint, whilst Job's Lane to the left marks the boundary between Hurstpierpoint and Bolney.
