Madeley Wood workhouse 'Brockholes' on Belmont Road
Originally built in 1796 by the Madeley Parish board, to house 40 poor inmates. It operated as such until the 1870s, whereupon a much larger institution was built half a mile to the northwest at what is now the Beeches nursing home. Upon closure, this place was converted to residential use, although the black plaque suggests it may have served as a brewer's malthouse at one stage. That plaque also records that one of the unfortunate miners killed in the 1864 disaster at the nearby Madeley Wood ironstone mine lived nearby http://www.ninemen.org/the-project/the-background-to-the-nine-men-of-madeley-project/

Prospect House, Ironbridge
A very fine, mid 19th century brick house, given a Grade II listing https://www.britishlistedbuildings.co.uk/101374358-prospect-house-the-gorge#.WWPpENQrLGg in 1983. Indicative of the fact that there was a lot of money being made (and spent) in the area in the glory days of the iron works and coal mining.

The Brockholes cottages, Ironbridge
Described in their collective 1974 Grade II listing https://britishlistedbuildings.co.uk/101207373-the-brockholes-the-gorge#.X20dAGhKjIU & https://historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1207373 as a "plain early-mid C19 cottage range". The small-paned iron casements mentioned in the listing have apparently gone now, replaced by newer casements and sashes, but the essential character of the row remains.

33, Belmont Road, Ironbridge
The birthplace of William Ambrose Wright (Billy Wright) the footballer, who lived 1924 to 1994, and played an outstanding and exemplary career for Wolverhampton Wanderers and England between 1939 (or 1946, depending upon how you define his debut match - the start of the war altered the rules somewhat) and 1959. He was the first footballer to earn 100 'caps' for his country, and remains in the top 10 or so of such players for England. His memorial statue stands outside the ground where his reputation was made
