The Foundry Master's House, Coalbrookdale
A very handsome double fronted house at Coalbrookdale. This is the early 1800s Foundry Master's house with Holy Trinity church seen in the background. The house stands out proudly amongst the many smaller cottages in rows nearby, that were presumably foundry workers cottages.
The tall chimney stacks not only look impressive but I think would have been designed to help the flues to draw as the house stands on the side of the valley. The roof tiles also feature a design pattern with fishscale tiles adding much to the already smart appearance. The house looks to have been well restored and now offers B&B.

Cottages at Coalbrookdale with Holy Trinity Church behind.
These cottages with gabled semi-dormers are along Wellington Road at Coalbrookdale next to the Foundry Master's house. Holy Trinity church is seen behind them, which has many associations with the foundry, but sits within the neighbouring geo grid square.

Not sure of the date of the establishment of the area here, so I wonder did this happen before the CA designation?
What a shame, I wish this 'modernisation' had not happened and could be corrected.

44 - 47 Wellington Road, Coalbrookdale
The northern part (basically no 44) of a terrace of 4 modest late 18th century workers' cottages, which were collectively Grade II listed https://britishlistedbuildings.co.uk/101054158-44-47-wellington-road-the-gorge#.XUKNwuhKhPY & https://historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1054158 in 1974. The others are quite hard to see at this time of the year on account of garden greenery.

Closed Factory Gates
The closure of the AGA Rayburn factory brought an end to the long history of ironworking in Coalbrookdale.
There is a rather moving picture inside the nearby Museum of Iron which shows these gates hung with boots belonging to the people who were working here on the final day.

A pity someone has bent them out of shape...looks like a bit of repair is needed.
