Penwortham Old Bridge, Preston
Penwortham Old Bridge dates from 1759 and has five sandstone arches. Up until the early 20th century this was the lowest bridging point on the River Ribble and for many years was a toll bridge. An earlier bridge dating from 1755 collapsed only a year later. Today, the bridge only carries pedestrian traffic.
