Old Milestone by the A63, Great North Road
Carved stone post by the A63, in parish of MICKLEFIELD (LEEDS District), old A1 junction A63 Selby Road, at North West corner of house, formerly The Boot and Shoe PH, on West side of road. Erected by the Leeds & Selby turnpike trust in the 18th century.
Inscription once read:-

Old inn

Old milestone
This stone is on the corner of a house, the old Boot & Shoe PH, which was the old A1/A63 Selby Road junction. It may be a stone from the Selby Leeds road, (10 miles each direction), a stone from the old Great North Road (182 miles from London) or just a stone to stop vehicles damaging the Inn corner. The London mileage is according to Norman W Webster. The Great North Road, P92.

Situated on the Great North Road (which at this point forms part of the present A63). It appears to be occupying the site of a former filling station.

Has Del Boy Lost his Car?
Yellow Robin Reliant, in pristine condition, passed by on the A63 at South Milford.
Cloned from "Only Fools and Horses" with the name Trotters substituted by Taylors.
I am sure the town of Selby was not displayed on the original either.

Milford Caravan Park
The sign at the entrance proclaims this is Milford Caravan Park, although the structures look to be of a more permanent nature.
Located on the Great North Road, which at this point is the A63 - the A1(M) having being moved slightly to the east.

Abandoned stretch of the A63
This was the original Leeds-Selby Turnpike road (later the A63) before remodelling of the junction with the Great North Road in the 1960s. It now serves the rather lowly purpose of a farm access track. The gateway to the left is the access to a property that was formerly the Boot and Shoe Inn at the junction with the GNR.

Best Western Hotel by A63
The Best Western Milford Hotel stands on the east side of the old A1 Great North Road. The road is still a dual carriageway at this point, but is now part of the W-E A63, the A1 now being a motorway a little further to the east.
