This was the original Leeds-Selby Turnpike road (later the A63) before remodelling of the junction with the Great North Road in the 1960s. It now serves the rather lowly purpose of a farm access track. The gateway to the left is the access to a property that was formerly the Boot and Shoe Inn at the junction with the GNR.
