The True Jesus Church is a Chinese Christian denomination, which originated in Beijing in 1917 and now has two and a half million adherents all over the world. The Elgin church on Lesmurdie Road was the first church purpose-built for the True Jesus Church in Britain. It was dedicated on 15 May 1985 and extended ten years later. The Calvary Tabernacle stands on Lesmurdie Road, newt door to the Image Services are held on Sundays at 1 p.m.

In the background are the houses on Hermes Road. Nelson Square is a gap between Lossiemouth Road and Hermes Road, but there is no direct access from it to Lossiemouth Road, which keeps it relatively free of traffic. The large sign used to say that the play area is for use of children under 14, and lists equipment and activities which are forbidden, but many of the letters have fallen off, giving it a rather scruffy appearance.

The centre of Nelson Square is occupied by a play area, depressingly deserted at quarter to six in the evening on a dry sunny schoolday.

The housing estates on either side of Lossiemouth Road are set well back from the roadway, with an access road running parallel to the houses and separated from the roadway by a strip of grass.

Leaving Elgin towards the north, there is an old-style signpost which has somehow eluded the attentions of the roads authority. Interestingly, the new-style one behind it doesn't mention Keith, but directs traffic to the Cathedral and to Fochabers. On the right is the Buccaneer aircraft which stands in the Buccaneer Service Station.

This ex-RAF Lossiemouth Blackburn Buccaneer military jet (XW 530) has been on display at the forecourt of the Buccaneer Service Station, Lossiemouth Road, Elgin since 1994. The aircraft saw action on the 1991 Gulf War and it’s very appropriate that it should be on display at a Jet garage.

An ex-RAF Lossiemouth Blackburn Buccaneer military jet (XW 530) has been on display at the forecourt of the Buccaneer Service Station, Lossiemouth Road, Elgin since 1994.
