This carving, which interestingly shows a red squirrel, is to be found on the front wall of the pub, below the pub sign's bracket. The inn sign shows a squirrel. It may be grey, as are the squirrels now to be found in Worcestershire, or possibly the sign has greatly faded. There is another representation of a squirrel carved on the front of the pub, and that one is definitely red! A local pub, which has a pool table, and a patio beer garden. It also has what was once a bowling green - a feature that many older pubs once had. In December 2010 the freehold of the pub had been for sale for several months. The guide asking price was then £299,000 plus VAT. Meanwhile the pub was and is very much in business. One of the four pubs currently remaining in Stourport-on-Severn, on this side of the River Severn. It is actually in Areley Kings, but that is in effect now part of the town of Stourport-on-Severn. The pub has been trading under its present name for a long time. It is mentioned in Littleburys Directory 1879, when the licensee was Joseph Butler, who was also also a coal merchant. This pharmacy is on the corner of the road known as Areley Common and Bowpatch Road. There used to be a General Practice surgery in Areley Kings, but currently there isn't one. Areley Kings was once an independent village to the south of Stourport-on-Severn and the River Severn. Although it still has some village characteristics, it is today much extended with new private estates and a large social housing estate. It is in effect now part of the town of Stourport-on-Severn, and does not have a parish council but elects representatives to the Stourport Town Council.

Londis is the local convenience store for this area. It also includes the Areley Kings Post Office. This is one of the few post offices in the Stourport-on-Severn area to survive. In recent years the numbers have been savagely reduced by well over half. Photographed on Boxing Day, with seasonal snow, the store was displaying four giant decorative holly wreaths on the outside.

This new and substantial village hall was built in 2003 according to the stone visible above the entranceway.

The wall on the left is that of the Areley Kings Pharmacy. The road starts at a junction with the road known as Areley Common, and is a cul-de-sac. It is part of the original village of Areley Kings, and most of the buildings it were built before the massive expansion of Areley Kings in the second half of the 20th century. Image
