One of the four pubs currently remaining in Stourport-on-Severn, on this side of the River Severn. It is actually in Areley Kings, but that is in effect now part of the town of Stourport-on-Severn. The pub has been trading under its present name for a long time. It is mentioned in Littleburys Directory 1879, when the licensee was Joseph Butler, who was also also a coal merchant. It was common in Victorian times for a licensee to have a second trade. Image Image Image Update January 2021: It was closed & bought by Tesco some years ago to convert into a convenience store. The plan was dropped after fierce local opposition & it is now being used for housing.
