Just around dusk, the lights have come on at the main entrance to Image, with the University's new insignia.

This driveway, to the car park at the rear of Beacon House (see Image), is also a public footpath which goes through that archway to Weston Drive. See also Image An alternative route is around the back of Beacon House - see Image See Image for the view from the very start of the path, behind us.

The turning circle of Weston Drive, a small cul-de-sac on Bournemouth's East Cliff. The archway between the two garages, which both look very much a part of the property to the left, forms public footpath D10 - see Image] and Image Beyond is the rear of Beacon House (see Image) while in the background is Image on the far side of Christchurch Road.

Situated at 19 Christchurch Road, this building was originally occupied by the financial institution Lloyd’s Bowmaker, but is now, like several office buildings in this section of Christchurch Road, part of Bournemouth University. The front door and signboard have seen a recent overhaul, incorporating the University’s new logo, but the University did not think to rewrite the building’s name – although they have since done so on panels either side of the porch, the name is still not clearly visible from the road.

The Hire Shop is listed as the Hendy-Lennox Ford dealership in the 1973 Kelly's Directory. I do not remember it as such (my memory of the area goes back to the early 1990s) but the Hire Shop has been there about five or six years. Above, according to the Kelly's, were the local branch of the National Employers' Mutual General Insurance Association Ltd., the Royal Liver Friendly Society, Crusader Insurance Co. and the Exchange Telegraph Co. Ltd. newsagency. More recently, it was the home of a fairly shortlived pool hall (if I remember rightly, after a lengthy period of vacancy), and after another stint of emptiness a dance studio has recently taken over the upstairs. Built originally as offices of an insurance firm, Bournemouth House was for some years occupied by Bournemouth University, housing teaching and library accommodation for its health and social care programmes. Vacated by the University, the building is now offered for commercial refurbishment.
