Fields at Portway Bridge
The bridge refers to an old bridge over the now dismantled railway that use to run through Binegar which was part of the Somerset and Dorset Joint Railway. Portway Lane, Turners Court Lane and Kings lane all meet at the bridge. Portway lane is just in front of the house in the middle of the image.

2010 : Disused and dismantled, railway bridge on Portway Lane
Built to carry the long gone Somerset & Dorset Railway. Image] shows the same bridge from the other side. This image was included to illustrate the different materials used, the original build was with stone probably from local quarries, then came repair work using the very dark engineering bricks, these appear to have been made from copper slag and are waterproof and very durable. They were widely used on the railways from about 1850 to the end of the century. The repair work in clay brick is probably since around 1900.
