Built to carry the long gone Somerset & Dorset Railway. Image] shows the same bridge from the other side. This image was included to illustrate the different materials used, the original build was with stone probably from local quarries, then came repair work using the very dark engineering bricks, these appear to have been made from copper slag and are waterproof and very durable. They were widely used on the railways from about 1850 to the end of the century. The repair work in clay brick is probably since around 1900.
