This photo shows the DTC at Beauver House, 6 Bricket Road where car practical driving tests are carried out on weekdays. It replaced the former DTC at 21 Lattimore Road nearby somewhile ago. Two cars with L plate attachments on their roofs can be seen on the right of the photo. For SatNav purposes, the postcode of this DTC is AL1 3JX.

The seven roundels depict the coats of arms of the city of St Albans itself (top) and of its twin towns and cities, from top right to bottom left as follows: Nevers, France. Nevers in Burgundy is, like St Albans, a cathedral city with Roman origins, and the link was established in 1974. Nyíregyháza, Hungary - twinned in 1996. Odense, Denmark. The link between the two cities dates to 1948 and was suggested by Count Scheel, a Danish citizen who had lived in St Albans for many years. Odense has a church of St Alban and King Canute/Knut of England and Denmark is said to have taken an arm of St Alban to Denmark as a holy relic. Sylhet municipality, Bangladesh (the country is not named on the roundel). This is a community-led friendship link rather than a formal town twinning, and began in 1988. There is a significant Bangladeshi community originating from Sylhet in St Albans. Fano, Italy. This seaside town has, like St Albans, a significant Roman heritage. The link dates from 1998. These are almshouses founded and endowed by Sarah, Duchess of Marlborough, in 1736. They were intended to provide accommodation for "36 decayed men and women". The almshouses surround three sides of a square on the south side of the A1057 Hatfield Road.

CCOS South is a large mixed use development being constructed in Victoria Street on the site of the former police station (see Image). The acronym stands for City Centre Centre Opportunity Site, and is phase 1 of a proposed redevelopment of much of the whole between St Peter's Street and Bricket Road.

A large Victorian house, now converted to offices. It is the only such survivor of the original buildings in this area of the city centre, now being surrounded by more modern buildings, mainly in civic use, including the telephone exchange, visible in the background. As such, it is locally listed.

The central part of the façade with the Marlborough coat of arms in the pediment. The façade was rebuilt in 1850 onto the original 1736 building. Listed Grade II.

Built by Sarah, Duchess of Marlborough, in 1736, who was born in St Albans and whose family were major landowners there. They consist of a central block (seen here) including a bay topped by a pediment bearing the Marlborough arms. At either end of this block are two similar wings, with the whole set of buildings enclosing a mainly grass courtyard. There are 36 flats in all, in nine blocks of four.
