St Albans: Marlborough Buildings

These are almshouses founded and endowed by Sarah, Duchess of Marlborough, in 1736. They were intended to provide accommodation for "36 decayed men and women". The almshouses surround three sides of a square on the south side of the A1057 Hatfield Road.
