Old Footbridge
There was a track from Mill of Pitcaple (NJ733260) at to the main road, crossing the River Urie on this bridge, or perhaps former bridges since replaced by this one. The round tower is part of another set of buildings, confusingly also marked on the maps as Mill of Pitcaple (NJ729259).

Once there was a Bridge
There was an overbridge here, carrying the Macduff Section of the Great North of Scotland Railway over the track to Mill of Pitcaple. It's possible to get down the embankment and back up again on to the next section of the former trackbed.

The Banks of the River Urie
This is a no-go area in summer. All the bright sprouting greenery is Giant Hogweed (Heracleum mantegazzianum), an invasive alien with noxious sap that can cause permanent skin damage. A few of last year's dead stems still stand, while others litter the ground.
