St. Cuthbert's Church (1), Rectory Road, Donington
The Parish church for the village of Donington. It was founded in 1085 by Roger de Montgomery, at a time when King William I (William the Conqueror) was still on the throne of England. The present structure seems to be rather later than that, with parts from the 14th & possibly 13th centuries, with much later work and heavily restored in 1878/79. Image Image Image Image Image

Chest tomb in the churchyard of St Cuthbert's
It's heavily weathered and the details are pretty much illegible now, but this Grade II listed chest tomb is probably dated to around 1840, and was listed https://britishlistedbuildings.co.uk/101273839-chest-tomb-approximately-10-metres-north-of-the-chancel-of-the-church-of-st-cuthbert-donington#.YaiRxtDP2Uk & https://historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1273839 in 1984. I had to remove a covering of ivy and fallen branches to make it visible.

St Cuthbert's in Donington, near Albrighton
The chancel of the church dates back to the early 14th century, and is probably therefore of similar age to the Image in the churchyard just outside the porch. The church has grown over the years, for instance with traces of 14th & 15th century stained glass and window architecture, and a probable 17th century hammerbeam roof structure, whilst the tower is a later addition. The whole building attracted a Grade II* listing https://britishlistedbuildings.co.uk/101273838-church-of-st-cuthbert-donington#.YZ9EQ9DP2Uk & https://historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1273838 in 1984.
