Joseph Crosfield and Sons, War Memorial
This plaque has been erected on a small green between Liverpool Road and Old Liverpool Road. This plaque shows the victims of the Great War of 1914-18; there is a separate plaque added for the 1938-45 war, but the original plaque has been amended by the addition, slightly out of line, of an 'S' to the word 'WAR'. A particular feature of the memorial is that each name has the department for which they worked shown. Also there is no distinction of rank made between the individuals.
A close up view highlights the variety of departments operated

Joseph Crosfield and Sons, War Memorial - detail
A close-up showing the variety of departments at the company. Note how many relate to functions subsidiary to the actual manufacture of soap, such as Wood Box, Shipping, Paper Stores. The mystery one is V.B.
Update: I have since been informed that V.B. stands for Vegetable Butter, (now of course known as margarine). This was clearly abbreviated simply for reasons of space.

The Bowling Green, Warrington
This is the Bowling Green pub, so called because before all the new roads that were built around Warrington town centre, it used to have a bowling green at the back of it. It made way for a wider A5061...
