View from Goldhawk Road station towards Hammersmith
The line here was opened in 1864. However, Goldhawk Road station was not opened at this location until 1 April 1914 when the station now known as Shepherd's Bush Market, but then as Shepherd's Bush, was moved from its original location between Uxbridge Road and Goldhawk Road to its present position on the north side of Uxbridge Road. Trains on the Hammersmith & City Line serve the station and now also, in an effort to improve its reliability, the Circle Line. The office blocks at Hammersmith can just be seen in the distance.

Not so hot on the Hot and Cold
'Hot and Cold' is one of the less opprobrious names for the Hammersmith and City Line (H&C). This is Goldhawk Road Station during the heavy snow on the 18th December 2010. Heavy snow tends to prevent good contact between the electric conductor rail and the pick-up shoes on the trains, and the service on the line was suspended just a few minutes after this picture was taken.

Shepherd's Bush Bus Garage (2)
Taken in Wells Road W12 8DA, this photo shows the Bus Garage now owned by London United although previously owned by London Transport. In the mid-1960s, it had about 60 vehicles allocated to it, but this has now increased to about 130 vehicles. Routes 72, 94, 148, 272, 419 and C1 are worked from this bus garage during the daytime whilst routes 72, 94, N97, 148 and 220 operate during the night, making it a 24/7 bus garage. To the left of the photo can be seen green RT 3491 (LYR 910) an AEC Regent III dating from the early 1950s, giving tours of the local surroundings for visitors to the Open Day at this garage.

Shepherd's Bush Bus Garage (1)
Situated in Wells Road W12 8DA, the original bus garage dates from 1906, but was rebuilt in the early 1950s and completed in 1954. The white notice on the garage says that it is now owned by London United, which is part of the RATP Group, an international public transport operator owned by the French Government. With this Garage having an Open Day when this photo was taken, RM 1 (SLT56) the first Routemaster dating from 1954 can be seen, whilst to the far right is LT135 (LTZ 1135) a 2014 62-seater Wrightbus NBfL seen allocated for route 148.

Interior of Shepherds Bush bus garage
Taken looking west towards the main entrance in Wells Road. The arches carrying the Hammersmith & City Underground Line can be seen in the far distance. The garage buildings date from 1954 and are of reinforced concrete construction. Note the massive box girders running east to west carrying service pipes, electric conduits and rain-water pipes. Although the garage is well lit by the glazed areas between the girders, its unique lack of extractor fans is something of a drawback at busy times.
