The White Hart, Acton
This Truman, Hanbury, Buxton public house was showing once again its original tiles proclaiming its owners and the name above the bar windows as it underwent renovation. In recent times it had been The Redback Tavern - a music venue with strong Antipodean connections. The venue closed in February 2013 after the Police approached Ealing Council to review the licence. At the time that this photograph was taken renovation was almost complete and the pub was due to reopen as The Aeronaut.

The pub in the middle distance, with its Truman, Hanbury and Buxton plaque high on the side, spent some time in the early 1990s called The Gin Palace, but is now called The Aeronaut.

Pavement Plaque in Acton High Street
Located outside 263 Acton High Street W3 9BY, this plaque has the following wording on the inside:
Messrs
Waite, Rose and
Taylor opened the
first Waitrose
shop here in
1904
Around the rim are the names of the bodies Acton History Group and Ealing Civic Society, together with Waitrose Ltd who must have arranged to be plaque to be fitted in the pavement.
