View indicator, John Perryn School
The named places in the view are Tottenham and Arsenal football stadia, Olympic Village, Telecom Tower, Canary Wharf, London Eye, Westminster Abbey, Battersea Power Station, Olympia, Earl's Court, and the Chelsea football stadium. When I visited I could also see Crystal Palace TV transmitter beyond Earl's Court. The indicator and photo were supplied by Willmott Dixon Construction, who built the new school. The photo foreground shows the play and sports area of the school, with houses in this area of East Acton beyond.

Play and sports areas, John Perryn School
The school was rebuilt in 2009, see Image and Image The old school was on the area which is now a hard surfaced sports area. This wide view over London is from a first-floor classroom. The BT Tower is near the left of the photo, Earl's Court Exhibition is near the right.

John Perryn School rebuilt
The school was completely rebuilt in 2009. The old one seen at Image was a squared-off figure 8 with the playground in the middle like the exercise yard in a prison, and the classrooms had no views over London. The new one built in 2009 is arranged along the top of its site with classrooms on the first floor having superb views over London. It is a pathfinder scheme to replace a failing school, see New London Architecture http://www.newlondonarchitecture.org/project.php?id=1020&name=john_perryn_school . The architects are Penoyre and Prasad. Viewing it as part of Open Day London, I was lucky enough to be shown round by the architect who explained its features. As well as the primary school there is a Children's Unit to provide all services needed for younger children. The school has particular provision for children of travellers.
