Road entry to North Pole depot, Old Oak sidings
North Pole depot was used as maintenance sheds for Eurostar trains, but this use has gone elsewhere. The photo shows the entry from Old Oak Common Road. If HS2 and Old Oak City go ahead, this will be the western end of a range of buildings between Wormwood Scrubs and the Great Western Main Line. In the photo there is a full height turnstile for pedestrian entry, a wide gate to a roadway, and up on the left the last power line gantry of the sidings.

Old Oak Common Lane
Looking towards the Great Western London to Reading main line. There are three bridges in this view. The nearest carries the headshunt tracks of the North Pole Eurostar Depot, now out of use following the extending of the Channel Tunnel Rail Link into St. Pancras and the opening of the new depot at Temple Mills in Stratford. The second bridge carries the Great Western London - Reading main line and the third carries the Greenford loop line. The fence on the right was built to protect the Channel Tunnel depot and carries serious warnings under the Channel Tunnel (Security) Order 1994. The depot was in use between 1994 and 2007.

Picnic tables in Old Oak Common
Two sets of picnic tables, rather dilapidated, with an open arched cover. The map shows a car park nearby, but this seems to have been grassed over. The area of Wormwood Scrubs here is the remaining open fragment of Old Oak Common.

Passing Sue's Cafe
A 228 bus en-route to Maida Hill descends Old Oak Common lane to pass beneath the Central Line railway bridge. The bus is a First operated ADL Enviro 200. Old Oak Common is on the right of the road. To the left is Sue's Cafe. Very popular with John Lewis delivery drivers, (their depot is nearby), the cafe does a good range of basic food and I can vouch for their sausage and egg sandwich :-)
