Longford Church
As a boarder at Longford Hall in the 1970s, I can recall this church being in use for Sunday services. It's now in private hands, and converted to a most unusual 'house'.
It was originally built as St Mary's church in 1804, by Ralph Leeke of Longford Hall, who'd made money in India. He had the former, older church dismantled, and recycled much of the masonry into the present building, which was used as a place of worship for the employees at Longford Hall and estate. This continued into the 1970s, when the place was acquired and used by Adams Grammar School, who then sold it on; it fell into disrepair for a while, until the present conversion and restoration brought it back into good condition. Currently (2012) up for sale for a very tidy sum of money.

Main entrance - Longford Hall
A familiar sight to many Old Novaportans; the entrance to the junior boarding house of Newport's Adams Grammar School www.adamsgs.org.uk. The school educates roughly 800 pupils, of whom 100 live either at Longford Hall or in the senior boarding premises on the school grounds in Newport High Street.
(No dogs allowed on these grounds, so I was unable to re-visit this old haunt on this occasion, due to having Daft Dog with me)

St Mary's old church (The Talbot Chapel), Longford
South of the disused church of 1802-06 (now a private house), stands the tiny C13 south chapel of the old church that once stood here. It has since become a mortuary chapel and contains a large monument to Thomas Talbot. It is thus commonly known as the Talbot Chapel, and is now cared for by the Churches Conservation Trust.

This huge classical monument to Thomas Talbot of Longford (†1686), and his wife Anne (†1706), totally dominates the confined space inside the chapel.
