Longford Church

As a boarder at Longford Hall in the 1970s, I can recall this church being in use for Sunday services. It's now in private hands, and converted to a most unusual 'house'. It was originally built as St Mary's church in 1804, by Ralph Leeke of Longford Hall, who'd made money in India. He had the former, older church dismantled, and recycled much of the masonry into the present building, which was used as a place of worship for the employees at Longford Hall and estate. This continued into the 1970s, when the place was acquired and used by Adams Grammar School, who then sold it on; it fell into disrepair for a while, until the present conversion and restoration brought it back into good condition. Currently (2012) up for sale for a very tidy sum of money.
