On rising ground, where North Street runs into Cheapside. The fork on the right - in shadow - is The Hill, and runs up to All Saints church and the site of the medieval market place

This was where hide was turned into leather. The drain in the middle would have been a way of getting rid of the foul smelling fluids onto the Hill and down into Bow or North Street
