58-60 Mardol, Shrewsbury
Pleasant pair, particularly no. 60 in yellow with segmental arches. Early C18th. Grade II listed.
The latter was occupied by Stokes (electrical appliances); the former was empty and available for rent.

72 & 73 Mardol, Shrewsbury
A pair of 18th century former houses, converted to shops at a later date, and Grade II listed https://www.britishlistedbuildings.co.uk/101254646-72-and-73-mardol-shrewsbury#.WsR5FfnwaM8 in 1972. The 4-window range to the left (i.e. Age UK premises) is no 72, with no 73 being the single-window building to the right.

Thought to have been purpose-built as a shop in the early 19th century, although the current shopfront is a more recent alteration. On the face of it, No 3 here looks quite similar to the adjoining Image on its right, but it may have an older core with a brick refacing which was undertaken around 1800. It too was Grade II listed https://britishlistedbuildings.co.uk/101254532-3-mardol-shrewsbury#.Y8W0W3bP3IU & https://historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1254532 in 1972.

A Restaurant
La Mer Rouge is a rather good restaurant, the latest of several similar trades to use this building. This large shop appears to have been a speculative development built around 1800 to let for this purpose. It is a grade II listed building (https://historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1270691?section=official-list-entry ) in conventional Georgian proportions.

Former Jessops store, Rous Hill
The Shrewsbury premises of the national camera/photographic chain Jessops (of Leicester), which went into administration in January 2013 with the loss of over 1350 jobs nationally.
