Thought to have been purpose-built as a shop in the early 19th century, although the current shopfront is a more recent alteration. It attracted a Grade II listing https://britishlistedbuildings.co.uk/101270703-4-mardol-shrewsbury#.Y8WyrHbP3IU & https://historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1270703 in 1972.
