Earls Court Radio Show 1955
As it was then, the premier national exhibition centre at Earls Court, London, on this occasion hosting the 1955 Radio Show. Many names familiar to those of us who grew up with them are on display, with radio still dominant despite the reemergence of national television broadcasting after the war. They included the fledgling commercial company ITV that actually commenced broadcasting for the first time that year.
Some of the names are more familiar than others, but where are they now? Ekco, Marconiphone, Collaro, Alba, Ultra, Regentone, Vidor, English Electric, Bush, Pye, Murphy, Philips, McMichael.

West Brompton: traces of Counters Creek and the Kensington Canal
The West London Line, on which West Brompton station lies, was built along the line of one of London's lost rivers, Counters Creek. The Creek had been made navigable up to about this point as the Kensington Canal, but when the railway was built the canal was truncated to a short stub at Chelsea Harbour. Here, to the west of the railway bridge another bridge, crossing nothing, is probably a survivor of the days when the road had to climb over a watercourse.
