The church was built in the 1890s. Viewed from across the A50, several yards below; a short distance away, the A50 enters the tunnel under the roundabout at Meir.

Meir tunnel West Portal (under construction)
Looking towards Longton and probably taken during the summer of 1997. Photo shows the Holy Trinity church in Box Lane situated above the new A50 tunnel's western portal. The southern foundations of the footbridge are also visible on the left embankment.

West end of Meir tunnel A50 (during construction)
Probably taken during summer 1997. Fifteen years later (December 2012) they have just replaced the original sodium lighting inside the tunnels with ultra-modern and efficient LED units which must be far cheaper to run and therefore are much more environmentally friendly. Such is progress.
