St. John's Street
  The photograph shows part of St. John's Street. From the right the businesses are: Gilberts newsagent and grocers, The Kings Arms Hotel, Beaches bookshop, The White Hart Hotel. On the far left of the photograph is the junction of St. John's Road with Catherine Street (continuation of St. John's Road) and Ivy Street (off to the right). On the corner of Catherine Street and Ivy St is a public house (white walls and tiled roof). The Cloisters, Salisbury
The timber-frame building, numbers 3 & 5 St John's Street, dates from c1500. The upper storey projects slightly beyond the ground floor.

The Chapter House inn and neighbours, St. John's Street, Salisbury
The Chapter House was formerly the King's Arms. The building with the name on is grade II*(star) listed, from around 1500. The externally timbered part is grade I listed, 15th century. The next build to the right was formerly part of the pub, now a shop, grade II*(star) listed. The upper storey door was formerly used to access the top of coaches. The low timbered building at the extreme left is also grade II*(star) listed, of similar age. The drab building behind the lady with the pram is looked at more closely in Image
