Southampton Seventh Day Adventist Church
The church is at 157 Shirley Road. The Seventh Day Adventist Church in the UK began more than a century ago at a nearby location. From there it has grown throughout the UK and Ireland. The first baptisms in Southampton (and Great Britain) took place in Shirley Hall on February 8th 1880.

Emmanuel Church, Shirley Road, Southampton
The church as a body of worshippers dates its origins to the late 1940s, when a group of believers met in Shirley in a Second World War Nissen Hut. They were known as The Evangelical Free Church.
The hut was regarded as a temporary structure. The present-day church building seen here used to be the Sunday School of a separate congregation known as Emmanuel Church, who, faced with dwindling congregations, handed over the building in the 1950s.
