The old Post Office
The upper floors have been converted into flats but the ground floor is currently unoccupied. Built in 1894, it is one of only a small number of buildings in the centre of Southampton displaying terracotta/ceramic detailing. Listed Grade II.

Oakley & Watling building, 56 High Street
Built in 1890 for the firm of Oakley & Watling who were a prestigious supplier of fruits, vegetables and flowers to many of the best shipping companies.
The letters O and W are displayed either side of the top storey window, the row of roundels above the first floor windows display grapes, bananas and pineapples, and at the top of the building is the depiction of a 'Southampton hulk' a local form of trading vessel. The ceramic/terracotta facade was provided by the Doulton company in their Carraraware style. Listed Grade II.

Southampton, former post office
On High Street; the original building to the North is highly decorated with tilework, and the later addition nearer the camera plainer.

Southampton, The Red Lion
Historic pub on High Street. A plaque states that conspirators against Henry V were tried here in 1415, and executed at nearby Bargate. Internally, L-shaped bar right, eating and drinking areas front, left, back and in gallery. The pub has wooden panelling, beams, a parrot, heraldic shields and a suit of armour. Cask ales on offer at my visit: Hogs Back TEA, Itchen Valley Hampshire Rose, Sharp's Doom Bar. The Red Lion, Southampton
12th century Grade II* listed https://historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1092055 pub on High Street.
The 12th century Red Lion pub on the High Street below the Bargate within the old walls is where in 1415, immediately prior to King Henry V of England's departure from Southampton to the Battle of Agincourt, the ringleaders of the 'Southampton Plot', Richard, Earl of Cambridge, Henry Scrope, 3rd Baron Scrope of Masham and Sir Thomas Grey of Heton, were tried and found guilty of high treason, before being summarily executed outside the Bargate.
