Blackheath: postbox № SE3 6, Tranquil Vale
This large Victorian postbox was manufactured during the period 1879-87, during which time the monarch's cipher was omitted from the box. In fact, we can date this one to the earlier half of that period, thanks to the higher-than-usual position of the posting slot. The box is emptied finally at 5:30pm on weekdays and at noon on Saturdays.

This row of shops near the top of Blackheath Village comprised, as of 2012, an estate agent, mortgage broker, two restaurants (one with its own microbrewery), and a cafe. That pretty much sums up the Village -see also Image

Meeting close to the Meridian
A Geograph meet, nominally on the Greenwich meridian though actually about 750m east of it. Contributors gather outside the Zero Degrees restaurant in Blackheath before going in for an evening of eating, drinking, chat and poring over maps.
