This large Victorian postbox was manufactured during the period 1879-87, during which time the monarch's cipher was omitted from the box. In fact, we can date this one to the earlier half of that period, thanks to the higher-than-usual position of the posting slot. The box is emptied finally at 5:30pm on weekdays and at noon on Saturdays.
