Gravetye Manor
Finished in 1598 for Richard Infield and his bride Katherine Compton. The most notable owner was William Robinson, a world renowned gardener, who brought the Manor and 1000 acres in 1884. Since early 2010 the new owners have restored the manor to its former glory along with the walled garden that now produces some of the food served at the hotel and restaurant.

Upper Lake and immediate grounds, Gravetye Manor
The manor beyond was built in its original form in the late 16th century for an ironmaster. The lake was created, apparently from scratch, by a later owner in Victorian times along with the gardens. The Lower Lake, out of sight to the right, was restored from an old hammer pond. Another hammer pond, now drained, was off to the left.
