Chichester Way, World's End
Taken from the junction with Image, it was once part of Valebridge Common that was enclosed in 1828 when this area became a wood known as The Plantation owned by Theobalds Farm until that was broken up and sold in 1920, this area in small plots chiefly designed for house building. The small estate was built during the 1960s and this road remained a cul-de-sac until the 1990s when the Charlwood Road estate was built off of it.

Footpath to Great Ote Hall
Predating the housing estates that have sprung up around it and since 1974 has been the boundary between East Sussex to the left and West Sussex to the right. However, the trees on the left are a remnant of an old field boundary that has remained intact particularly as the estate beyond it was still a field into the 1990s.

Charlswood Road, Worlds End
Small 1990s housing estate which despite being part of Burgess Hill is actually in Lewes District Council and East Sussex. The footpath from which the picture was taken forms the boundary of East and West Sussex.

Valebridge Drive, World's End
Taken at the junction with Image Once part of Valebridge Common until that was enclosed in 1828 with this section going to Theobalds Farm who grew a small wood called The Plantation. The wood lasted until the estate was sold off in 1920 with this area broken up into small plots for housebuilding which duly grew lining the eastern side of Valebridge Road. The small estate was constructed in the 1960s and initially turns east to south as it hits the district boundary between Mid Sussex and Lewes which is also the administrative boundary between both Sussexes.

Valebridge Road, Worlds End
The opposite view to this Image All this land was once part of Valebridge Common with the road being the main thoroughfare through it to the southern edge of another common at Haywards Heath. However, the common land was gradually eaten away by the enclosures then the coming of the London-Brighton railway in 1841 and the subsequent town of Burgess Hill that grew around it. What remains of the common can be found on Bedelands Farm Nature Reserve.
