This is the circular, village name on black band, no Motor Union symbol or name type, dating from 1923, and showing distances Bicester 4½ Brackley 6 London 59½. The distances are Bicester 4½ Brackley 6 London 59½. There were five series of AA signs, mostly dating from 1923 and made by Francis & Co / Franco in Deptford, London. Built in C18 and modified in C20. See http://www.britishlistedbuildings.co.uk/en-243614-the-old-post-office-fringford-oxfordshir for entry in British Listed Buildings. Note the AA sign on the side. The Author Flora Thompson (1876-1947) (Lark Rise to Candleford) worked in this Post office in 1891.
