Restored former Jesseman premises, Newport
W Jesseman and Co were for many years india rubber goods manufacturers in Newport. Their extensive premises were on Lower Dock Street, extending around the corner into George Street. Some of the site has been restored to how it looked in its prime. This view shows a part of the George Street side. The name of the current occupiers, Solas Cymru, http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/2086473 appears over the entrance on the left. Solas Cymru were formerly Newport Action for the Single Homeless.

The Chandlery, Newport
A Grade II listed building on the corner of Lower Dock Street and George Street. In 1901, the occupants were ship chandlers.
The family-run Chandlery Restaurant operates on two floors of the building.

Located on the corner of George Street and Lower Dock Street, the Chandlery restaurant closed down in May 2012. There is a To Let board on the premises, a former ships' chandlers' premises. The owners stated that "the economic climate has beaten us so we have been forced to cease trading".
