Belton houses [15]
Numbers 5 and 6 Washdyke Lane are a pair of estate cottages, now a house. Dated 1852, with late 20th century alterations. Constructed, in the Jacobean Revival style, of squared, coursed stone with ashlar dressings under a slate roof. Listed, grade II, with details at: https://historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1236277 Belton is a small village in Lincolnshire some 2½ miles northeast of Grantham. The village is adjacent to the country estate of Belton House and many of the older village houses were built by the estate.

A view of towards the T junction with Main Street. No 5 and No.6 Washdyke Lane were formerly two semi-detached cottages for Belton Hose employees, dating from 1852, although these have now been converted into one house. The property is Grade-II listed.

Three Grade-II listed properties (but four dwellings) on the north side of Washdyke Lane built for employees of Belton House. They are, from the nearest to the furthest: No.4 (a.k.a. Vine Cottage) dating from 1848 but with late C20th alterations, Nos. 5 & 6: two semi-detached houses dating from 1852 with late C20th alterations and finally No.7 (a.k.a. Sweetbriar Cottage) dating from 1850 with late C20 alterations. Ahead, at the closed end of this cul-de-sac, is a rural footpath that soon crosses the River Witham. Behind the photographer however, the lane forms a T junction with Main Street.

Washdyke Lane, Belton, Lincs.
On the left-hand side of the closed end of Washdyke Lane (a cul-de-sac) there exists this snicket, a short-cut that locals use to reach the former Bede House almshouses on Main Street. Alternatively, there is also a rural footpath to the photographer's right leading towards the River Witham.

Belton features [5]
This boundary wall borders Main Street for about 55 yards (50 metres). Built in the mid 19th century of squared, coursed squared stone with slab coping and quoins at the corner. The wall borders Washdyke Lane, for about 120 yards (110 metres) with stepped triangular brick coping.
