Former Methodist Chapel, Guildhall Street, Newark, Notts.
This Grade II-listed building on the west side of Guildhall Street was originally a Methodist Chapel - the second one to be constructed in Newark - was consecrated by John Wesley in 1787. He is said to have visited Newark on six occasions between 1743-88. At some point this building has also seen service as a school and business premises. It appears now to have been converted into apartments. Balderton Gate lies behind the photographer and Barnby Gate ahead.

35 Barnby Gate, Newark-on-Trent
Early C18th, with C19th alterations. These might explain the odd proportions as usually the top storey of a Georgian house would be the smallest, in line with its diminished status as servant accommodation. Grade II listed.
Now apparently offices.

Former Devon Brewery
The brewery was owned by W S Davy; the house probably dates to the mid 19th century, and was the offices for the business. Another relic of the brewery can be seen herehttp://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/3112668 . An inscribed stone on the right of the building http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/3116502 records the nature of the business, The brewery itself appears to have been on the site now occupied by Baldertongate Long Stay Car Park.
