Road near The Peels, Harbottle
This unclassified road runs down to the farmhouse and cottages of The Peels at the bottom of the hill in the gentle valley of the River Coquet. The road continues to Harbottle about 1km away, but this is impassable to most vehicles as it crosses the river by a rough and deep ford, see Image The hills in the distance on the other side of the valley are within the Otterburn army training area.

The Peels comprise a farmhouse, pictured here, several cottages and various farm buildings, all built in stone, and mostly 18th century.

Coquetdale near Harbottle
This view looking south is of the valley of the River Coquet, Coquetdale, east of Harbottle. The buildings are part of the farm called The Peels. The first line of trees across the photo in the middle distance hide the river, and the hills beyond are in the Otterburn army training area. The hills in the far distance on the left are part of the Simonside Hills that overlook Thropton and Rothbury.
