Old Wagon
Located on top of the Northern Line cutting at Finchley Central, clearly this railway vehicle has seen better days. From limited research, it appears to be an ex Great Eastern Railway 10t box van, which would make it pre-1923. Tantalisingly, there is a large E on the right hand end of the bodyside and the streak of green may be covering a G. The vehicle seems to have been painted in a shade of blue. The strapping on the vehicle end is in MOD arrow style similar to other GER box van examples, but there are no vents. Sadly, most of this piece of history was removed during a clearance operation over the winter of 2006/07. Just the left hand end remains supporting the ivy.

Edward VIII cipher, Finchley Telephone Exchange
Other telephone exchanges with the uncommon Edward VIII cipher include those at Alton, Barnsley, Winchmore Hill, Reigate, Newport (IOW) and Shanklin. The Finchley example is even more unusual in that it is in metal, rather than a date-stone.

Finchley: 365 - 375 Regents Park Road, N3
From the date in the pediment on the top left of the building this block of shops, with flats above, dates from 1899. Martyn Gerrard, estate agents, occupy the corner unit at Number 365. As a contrast in styles Image is visible in the distance. Dollis Park is the road to the left.

Winston House
Offices with ground floor bar, located on Regents Park Road. In the distance is King Edward Hall, looking slightly drunk due to camera distortion. The 20mph sign is genuinely leaning at an angle, probably due to revellers swinging on it!

Outside The Dignity
Evening passengers board a 326 bus outside The Dignity public house, the fenced off seating area of which is visible on the left. Martin Gerrard estate agents, on the corner of Dollis Park and Regents Park Road, is nicely illuminated. The bright green tree in the distance is behind a florists on the corner of Station Road.

St.Mary's Court
Barnet County Court on Regents Park Road, Finchley. It is a civil and family courts centre. I believe that there used to be a school of the same name on this site.
