Located on top of the Northern Line cutting at Finchley Central, clearly this railway vehicle has seen better days. From limited research, it appears to be an ex Great Eastern Railway 10t box van, which would make it pre-1923. Tantalisingly, there is a large E on the right hand end of the bodyside and the streak of green may be covering a G. The vehicle seems to have been painted in a shade of blue. The strapping on the vehicle end is in MOD arrow style similar to other GER box van examples, but there are no vents. Sadly, most of this piece of history was removed during a clearance operation over the winter of 2006/07. Just the left hand end remains supporting the ivy.
