Finchley Fire Station Open Day
A London Ambulance Service Voluntary Response Unit on display at the open day. Note that the Volunteer Responders wear navy uniforms rather than the dark green of full time London Ambulance staff. They also seem to get nicer vehicles than the regular paramedics ;-)

1st Edition
Two Evening News delivery vans cross the North Circular Road at the junction with Long Lane in September 1975. Finchley Firestation is in the background. Both types of van are now rarely seen, whilst the Evening News is but a distant memory.

Aerial Ladder Platform
One of a batch of new aerial ladder platforms, ALP14, in use to train firemen at Finchley fire station. Being brand new the whole batch are allocated to training and are currently visiting stations around the capital.

Waiting for the Bus
Bus stop on the North Circular road before it became a dual carriageway. It's a chilly and foggy November morning - the sort when the bus never comes. There was only one lane in each direction at this time and a queue has formed at the traffic lights where Long Lane crosses the A406.

This used to front onto the North Circular but it has now been raised and access is only from Long Lane.

Heavy Haulage on Long Lane
A DAF XF with low-loader parked outside Talbot Designs premises by the fire station. It has delivered a crane which I believe is being used in the replacement of the asbestos roof in this ex-council depot. See Image where the roof is visible.
