Finchley Fire Station

Talbot Designs
A small local business designing and manufacturing plastic items. The company used to be based in offices on the corner of Long Lane and Squires Lane. These premises were once the council roads depot but became free when a new facility was opened. In the background is Finchley Fire Station's practice tower.

Aerial Ladder Platform
One of a batch of new aerial ladder platforms, ALP14, in use to train firemen at Finchley fire station. Being brand new the whole batch are allocated to training and are currently visiting stations around the capital.

Heavy Haulage on Long Lane
A DAF XF with low-loader parked outside Talbot Designs premises by the fire station. It has delivered a crane which I believe is being used in the replacement of the asbestos roof in this ex-council depot. See Image where the roof is visible.

Pointalls Close
A small housing estate between Abingdon Road and Finchley Fire Station's yard. The close is L shaped and used to connect to the North Circular Road, out of shot on the left and the fire station. When the North Circular was widened to a 6 lane Dual Carriageway, a new section of access road was provided connecting the close to Avondale Road and access to the North Circular removed.

Finchley Fire Station Open Day
A London Ambulance Service Voluntary Response Unit on display at the open day. Note that the Volunteer Responders wear navy uniforms rather than the dark green of full time London Ambulance staff. They also seem to get nicer vehicles than the regular paramedics ;-)
