Leading The Way
Order restored after clearing an accident on the bridge over Long Lane (exactly the same spot as an accident in similar conditions 364 days ago), a Metropolitan Police BMW leads the queue of traffic away at a safe speed for the conditions on the A406. Traffic in both directions is badly affected by the snow and not a single TfL gritter lorry was in sight for this snowfall that was being forecast on weather websites a good 4 hours before the event.

Night Shift
Cones protect the central reservation of the A406 North Circular Road. It is 00:30 in the morning and maintenance work is planned along this stretch of road, though where the workers were is a bit of a mystery as none were in view. The bridge crossing the A406 carries the A1000 High Road. On the left are the slip roads for the BP service station and for traffic wishing to join the A1000. On the right, the Big Yellow Storage building dominates the skyline behind another sliproad onto the A1000.

Street Cleaning
Barnet Council take the blowers and sweepers to the loose dirt along the central reservation and in the centre lane of the A406, North Circular Road. The loose dirt clogs drainage systems and reduces braking effectiveness for vehicles, so its removal periodically is important for road safety.
