Closed John's shoe repairers on Manor Park Road, East Finchley
This shop was here for most of my life till I left the area in 1994, and has just had to close since the current owner, who took over from Mr Belcher 30 years ago had to give up due to ill health. My family had all their shoes repaired here since about 1965. No one knows its fate now. Here is the story from the local paper. http://www.the-archer.co.uk/archive/2018/2018Dec03.pdf

Church Lane Bridge, East Finchley & 1972 Mk1 Tube Stock
A Northern Line 1972 Mk1 stock train is about to pass under Church Lane bridge, East Finchley, as it heads southbound on a Morden via Bank service on a very warm and sunny day on 15 September 1996. The driver has opened the cab door for a bit of fresh air; a common practice during summer months back then when this older stock was still in service. This part of the line is on the former LNER railway to Mill Hill East & High Barnet; the Mill Hill East branch originally ran to Edgware via Mill Hill (The Hale). The line remained open for goods until 29th February 1964 when it closed completely.

Church Lane
The road climbs steeply here to cross the Northern Line. The land on either side of the road falls away steeply and the nearest houses have three storeys. The concrete sided building further down the hill is one of 2 corner shops, now in use as offices, at the junction with Manor Park Road. The bridge over the railway is behind me. Holy Trinity Church is out of shot on the left.
